Obituary

Veronica (Vicki) Guydos-Casida died Monday Aug 1, 2016 at her home in State College, PA. She was born Jan 4, 1922 in Clarence, PA. to parents Blazey and Mary Macura.

She had five sisters and two brothers. She was proud of her catholic faith and Slovak heritage and loved to sing old Slovak songs. Later in life, she went to Slovakia to see the beautiful country.

She married Sgt. Joseph Guydos in 1944 and lived in Florida before moving to Detroit, Michigan where she worked at the B. Siegel Co. After Joseph's death in 1988, she moved to State College, PA.

In 1993 she married Dr. Lester Earl Casida, Jr., a professor of microbiology at the Pennsylvania State University. She was a happy, sociable person who loved antique glassware, flowers, and dancing. She and Earl were donors of several professorships/scholarships specializing in food safety.

She is survived by Dr. Casida, two step-daughters, Nancy Pattishall of Chapel Hill, NC, and Sharon Reed of Hummelstown, Pa., several nieces and nephews, four step-grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
