Viola C. (Fike) Lucas, 95, of Centre Hall died May 8, 2016 at Mount Nittany Medical Center.
Born June 22, 1920 in Pleasant Gap, she was the daughter of the late William and Nancy Jane (Saul) Fike.
On July 13, 1941 in Jersey Shore she married Donald R. Lucas who preceded her in death on March 13, 2000.
Viola was a Gold Star Mother. She was a member of the VFW in Bellefonte, Post 1600, who loved flowers and gardening and had an open door policy for anyone to come and visit and enjoy a meal. She was an avid Lions Club Bingo player who enjoyed going to the casinos.
She is survived by two daughters, Jean Greenaway (Robert "Lew") of Brisbin and Jane Marie Dunklebarger of Bellefonte; two sons, Dale E. Lucas (Ruth) of Bellefonte and Roy I. Lucas of Centre Hall; 15 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren and 29 great great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a son, Donald R. Lucas who died in the Vietnam War on January 12, 1969, 5 brothers, 1 sister, one granddaughter , two great grandsons and a son and daughter-in-law.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 PM, Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Services, 226 S. Pennsylvania Avenue, Centre Hall. The funeral service will be 11 AM, Thursday, May 12th at the funeral home with the Reverend Mark Melhorn officiating. Burial will follow in Centre County Memorial Park, State College.
