Virginia "Ginny" Y. Rider, 74, of State College and Salem Hill Haven in Spring Mills, died Thursday, November 24, 2005, at the Hearthside Nursing Center in State College.
She was born April 3, 1931 in Tusseyville, a daughter of the late C. Fred and Mae McClellan Young.
On July 18, 1951 she married Paul E. Rider who preceded her in death on April 14, 1991.
Ginny graduated from State College High School in 1949. She was employed by the State College Area School District in Food Service Accounting retiring after twenty five years of service.
Mrs. Rider was a member of Woodycrest United Methodist Church in State College. She was a former member of the State College Woman's Club and the Black Panther Riding and Camping Club.
She enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandson and his two daughters, camping, cross stitching, attending Grange Fair and dining in restaurants.
Ginny is survived by her daughter and son in law, Diane and Dean Alters of Boalsburg; one grandson and his wife, Greg and Jennifer Alters of State College and two great granddaughters, Kacie and Kaitlyn Alters.
There will not be a public visitation. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p. m. on Sunday, November 27, 2005, at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service, 226 S. Pennsylvania Ave. Centre Hall, PA, with the Rev. Renee Ford officiating. Burial will be in the Boalsburg Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
