Walter Kenneth Johnson, Jr., "Junior", 79, of State College, passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2009 at Mount Nittany Medical Center.
Born June 16, 1929 in Pine Grove Mills, he was the son of the late Walter K. and Edna Sunday Johnson. On September 3, 1950 he married Jacqueline F. Bailey who preceded him in death on June 1, 2007.
Surviving are two daughters, Sharon Foster of Huntingdon, Holly Fouse and her husband Joel of York, and one son, Denny and his wife Judy of Boalsburg; seven grandchildren, Glen "Buck" and Scot Foster of Huntingdon, Ken Foster (financee Jennifer) of Tyrone, J.R and Joe (Jessica) Couch of Petersburg, Christy Anders of York and Terralee Johnson of Lewistown; five great grandchildren, Shawn and Brooke Anders of Alexandria, Glen Foster of Tyrone, Grace Couch of Petersburg and Gavin Johnson of Lewistown; two sisters Louise Sprankle of Boalsburg and Connie Novotka of Easton, one brother Jim of Michigan. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers.
Ken worked at the McFeely Brick Company in Port Matilda early in life, then drove bus for State College Area School District and Fullington. In 1991, he retired from the Pennsylvania State University, Office of Physical Plant, with 37 years of service. Ken enjoyed Penn State and Steeler football, hunting and fishing, particularly staying at his grandson's (Buck) camp during deer hunting season.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at Mark Heintzelman Funeral Home, 226 S. Pennsylvania Ave., Centre Hall. The funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at the funeral home with the Reverend Doctor Theodore E. Kiffer officiating. Burial will be in the Pine Grove Mills Cemetery, Pine Grove Mills.
