Walter F. Regel, 79, of Pleasant Gap, died Thursday, February 2, 2012, at his residence.
Born July 22, 1932, in Howard he was a son of the late Gilbert and Myra (Young) Regel.
On June 27, 1959, he married Dorothy M. Rachau, who survives at home.
He was a Korean War Army Veteran.
Walter worked for the PA Fish Commission for four years. He then transferred to Rockview Correctional Institution, where he worked as a correction officer for 36 years, retiring in 1990.
He was a member of the Pleasant Gap United Methodist Church, the Pleasant Gap Lions Club, the Pleasant Gap American Legion and the Eddy Ridge Hunting Club. He was also a lifetime member of the Pleasant Gap Fire Co.
He was a volunteer coach for Little League baseball and enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing and bowling with the Rockview Bowling League.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Jeff Regel of Bellefonte; one daughter, Pam Riglin of Clearfield; one brother Robert (Connie) Regel of Pleasant Gap; four sisters, Rebecca Dreibelbis and Martha Dreibelbis both of State College, Patricia Gentzel of Zion and Charlotte (Paul) Hartley of Pleasant Gap; five grandchildren Elizabeth and Eric Regel, Allison (Michael) Hockenberry, Jacob and Melanie Riglin; and one great grandson, Liam Hockenberry.
Friends will be received 1-4 PM, Sunday, February 5, 2012, at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Services, 1034 Benner Pike, State College, and from 10-11 AM, Monday, February 6, 2012 at the Pleasant Gap United Methodist Church, 179 S. Main Street, Pleasant Gap. Funeral Services will follow at 11 AM, at the church with the Reverend Thomas Osif officiating,
Interment will be at Centre County Memorial Park.
