William Dean Corl, 87, of State College, died on Friday, September 9, 2011 at Mount Nittany Medical Center.
Born July 22, 1924, in State College he was the son of the late Daniel Otis and Elsie Mae (Cramer) Corl.
On January 4, 1950, he married Marjorie Houtz who preceded him in death on December 29, 2001.
Dean was a farmer for many years. He also worked for State College Parks and Rec until his retirement. He then continued to work as self employed lawn and field mowing service.
He was a member of St. Peters United Church of Christ in State College and a member of the Black Panthers Riding Club.
Dean loved spending time with his family and with his companion Evelyn. He loved his tractors, camping and his morning coffee with his friends at McDonald's.
He is survived by one daughter, Deb (Jim) Lewis of Howard; two sons, Barry (Molly) Corl of Bellefonte and Dennis (Doris) Corl of State College; one brother, Russell Corl of State College; seven grandchildren, Laurie (Shane) Hause, Gwen (Robb) Schillo, Jamie Lewis (fiance Scott), Chris (fiancee Melanie) and Chad Corl and Brian and Megan Corl; three great grandchildren, Kaleb, Ryan and Katie; and his companion, Evelyn Eisenhower.
In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters.
Family will receive friends from 10:30 AM until the time of the memorial service at 11:30 AM, Monday, September 12, 2011 at St. Peters United Church of Christ, 1795 W. College Avenue, State College. The Reverend Charles Fitzgerald will officiate the service. Interment will follow in Pine Hall Cemtery.
