William "Bill" Edwin McCane, 66, of State College, died Friday, October 26, 2007, at his residence.
He was born December 24, 1940 in Reading, PA, a son of the late William and Edith Rightmeyer McCane.
He was married to the former Eleanor M. Dezagottis who survives at home.
In addition to his former wife, he is survived by a daughter Melinda Williams and her husband Brian of York, PA; a son William McCane of Florida; one sister, Jenny DeLong of Apple Valley, CA; three brothers, Charles McCane of Womelsdorf, Richard McCane and Thomas McCane both of Sinking Springs; and one grandson, Reilly Williams, and two nephews who were close to him, Timothy and Michael McCane.
During the Viet Nam War, Mr. McCane served in the U. S. Army from October 29, 1963 to September 8, 1965.
He earned two bachelor's degrees, one in Sociology and one in Psychology, at Penn State University. He continued to work for Penn State in the Audio Visual department until his retirement in 2002. Mr. McCane also worked as a NAUI scuba diving instructor for Nittany Divers.
Bill was an avid outdoorsman who especially enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was a member of the NRA.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p. m. November 25, 2007, at the Heidelberg Family Restaurant, 910 W. Penn Ave. (Route 422) Robesonia, PA.
