Poorman
July 10, 1923 – February 9, 2021
William H. Poorman, 97, of Bellefonte passed away Monday, February 9, 2021, at the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home, Duncansville.
He was Born July 10, 1923, in Bellefonte, PA; a son of the late William H. Sr. and Lillian (Campbell) Poorman. He married Esperance (Rider) Poorman who preceded him in death in 2005.
William served his Country in the United States Army with Battery B. He earned the Rank of CPL, as well as earning a Good Conduct Medal, The American Theater Service Medal, the WWII Victory Medal, and a European African Middle Eastern Theater Service Medal with three Bronze Stars.
Bill was a Laborer at Cerro Metal and Brass. He retired after 25 years of service.
He was a member of American Legion Post 867 in Pleasant Gap and the Bellefonte VFW Post 1600. He enjoyed camping, traveling, gardening and fishing.
He is survived by his children; Kathy Crock (Ernest) of Bellefonte and William H. Poorman Jr. of Punxsutawney; Stepdaughter, Myrna Alterio of Bellefonte; four grandchildren; Ernest Crock Jr., Ashley Calvo, William Poorman III, and Kimberly Colberson; eight great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Barbara Hahn.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Alice McCloskey, his two brothers, Russell and Harry Poorman, and daughter-in-law Ginger L Poorman.
All services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
